Victoria Museum

Victoria Museum is in Vijayawada town of Andhra Pradesh in India. It is an archaeological museum. This museum was established in 1887.

Though this museum houses many artefacts and archaeological treasures like pre-historic tools, stone and copper plates, gold and silver coins, weaponry, textiles and pottery, the main attractions are Mahishasura Mardhini (Goddess Durga) and Buddha images.

One of the huge Buddha's image is made of granite white another is made of limestone. The latter image was excavated in Alluru. It is in standing position.

There are some magnificent sculptures dating back to the 4th and 5th centuries of Lord Shiva.
