Vijayawada
Vijayawada, literally 'a place of victory', also known as Bezwada, is a city in Andhra Pradesh in India. It is located on the banks of Krishna River and overlooks the Bay of Bengal. It has largest railway junction in South India. It is also known as the place of beautiful springs, mouthwatering sweets and juicy mangoes.The Indrakeeladri Hill forms a spectacular backdrop to the city on the west, on top of which there is the famous for the temple of Kanaka Durga. According to a tradition, Arjuna, the mighty warrior of the Mahabharatha, received his divine weapon, the Pasupatha, at this site and after getting the weapon, he constructed the temple to honor Goddess Durga.
According to another mythological story, Goddess Durga rested here after she killed a demon and that is why the place is known by Kanaka Durga.
The city is renowned for some other beautiful temples, Buddhist shrines, and the famous Prakasam Barrage.
