Vishwanath Mathur was a revolutionary freedom fighter of India. Born 1913 at Baikunthapur, Berhanda, Darbhanga, Bihar,s/o Late Anand Behari Lal Mathur. Was a member of the Hindusthan Socialist Republican Army. Was arrested in connection with Arms Seizure Case at Gaya and was sentenced to 7 and half years imprisonment on 12th September 1933 under section 121A I.P.C. to wage war against the king. Deported to Andamans in 1934 as prisoner No. 12277 of Hazaribagh Central Jail. Became permanent incarcerated Prisoner No. 211. Participated in second hunger strike. Repatriated in 1937 and released in 1938. He was again confined to prison from 1940 to 1945 under D.I.R. in Hazaribagh jail and Deuli Detention Camp. Total jail period 12 years.
