Walter Smith

Walter Smith (1905-1982), also known as Red Smith, full name Walter Wellesley Smith, was a US sportswriter. Smith’s work influenced an entire generation of writers. He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Commentary in 1976. Author David Halberstam called Smith "the greatest sportswriter of two eras."
