War of Jenkins's Ear

War of Jenkins's Ear was the war fought in 1739 between England and Spain. The war derives its name from a British sea captain, Robert Jenkins, who appeared before parliament to produce what he claimed was his ear.

Robert Jenkins claimed that his ear was cut off by the Spanish during a search operation conducted by them for his ship in the Caribbean Sea.
