WILLIAM ALLINGHAM (1824-1889), a poet and journalist, born in Ireland, of English origin; his most celebrated works are "Day and Night Songs" and "Lawerence Bloomfield in Ireland"; was for a time editor of 'Fraser's Magazine'.
