John Wycilf was born in 1320 in Yorkshire. He was educated at oxford .He was a great translator .His translation was Gospel, the New Testament and the part of the Old Testament in1388. That was in Latin. He translated Latin into English. He wanted that Bible should be readable and reachable for all common people which were in clutches of churchmen. He also wrote against corruption .He freely attacked for corruption in high or low places, in royal court or among ecclesiastics or in the common man. Wyclif wrote in Latin. Much of his work was in Latin .His opinion was revolutionary. He also wrote pamphlets in English. Although his English language was unpolished but whatever he wrote was vigorous and pointed .His approach of life was different from churchmen. He worked for common people. He died in 1384.
