Yam is a god of death, according to Indian mythology.

He is a son of Surya.

Narak is his abode.

Yam is the first step of Yog, which is practiced in its five forms.

Yam is a necessary part of Yog philossophy.

There are five forms of Yam : Ahimsa (non-violence in thought word and deed), Satya (truthfulness), Asteya ( non-stealing), Brahmacharya (abstinence from sexual indulgence in every form) and Aparigraha (depriving oneself of all possessions).
