Yehuda Amichai

Yehuda Amichai (1924-2000) was an Israeli writer, a Bavarian-born novelist, poet, and short story writer. He joined British Army in 1942 and served in Middle East until 1946. He also joined the Palmach and fought on the front in Israel’s War of Independence. His works were influenced by his orthodox upbringing and war experience, and are known for simple style and personal nature of topics.
