The programme is being organized in every school by the Rajya Shiksha Kendra. The chief minister himself participated in one such programme in a government school where he tried to teach the students how to improve their reading habits.
Besides Chouhan, other ministers, IAS officers, ministers, dignitaries and others volunteered to take the classes in various schools of the state. Under the programme over 2.15 lakh volunteers attended various government schools and worked as teachers in the primary and middle schools across the state. In some cases ministers who acted as teachers displayed their poor knowledge by stating bloomers.
Later at a state level programme, the chief minister addressed students, teachers, school management committee members and others through Akashwani and Doordarshan. He also felicitated students who excelled in Maths and Science Olympiad and the state level winner in storytelling.
The chief minister launched Pranam Pathshala: Vidhyalaya Uphar Yojna portal and KHEL project (Knowledge hub for e-learning), an app to facilitate learning with fun. Students of selected schools took oath for upgradation of their schools under the 'Shala Siddhi-Hamari Shala Aisi Ho' programme being carried out for upgradation of schools after self evaluation by the teachers and students. The children magazine 'Gullak' created by the Rajya Shiksha Kendra was also unveiled by the CM.
Chouhan explained to the children that while knowledge from books was important, small good habits made a person great. He also highlighted the importance of regular physical exercises as well as spending time with friends for the development of one’s personality. The chief minister announced that the government would pay the fees of students scoring over 75 percent marks in the 12 the board examination up to the graduation level.
Enthused by the good response to the programme from volunteers and students, Chouhan addressed the students of government middle schools at the Samanvay Bhavan on the same day where he promised better education by ensuring better facilities and scholarships for higher education to students securing marks of 85 percent and above in 12th board examination.
Launching the new web portal 'Pranam Pathshala' where anyone can log in and make donations to government schools, he said, "Governments will change, but the society will always be here. It is not only the duty of government to promote literacy; even citizens have the moral responsibility to boost literacy. I urge people to participate in the noble cause and make contribution for the growth and development of government schools."
He donated 1,200 books to his childhood school making it the first contribution to a government school under the 'Mil Banche' programme, Another scheme called 'Gullak' was launched at the event, under which citizens can collect materials to be donated to government schools.
Opposition leader Ajay Singh, however, dubbed the programme as a gimmick by the chief minister, pointing out that schools in the state were falling short of thousands of teachers and thousands of schools did not even have roof over them. (IPA Service)
