Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid Syed Ahmad Bukhari said that US polices have been anti Muslim for a long time and it could not be changed. “Whoever come to power, hardly any change could be seen as far as Muslims and Muslim world is concerned,†says Bukhari, adding 'there could be a slight difference between A and B but by and large the US would follow the same policy.' He, however, said that it has to be seen as to how Obama drafts policies related to Muslim world.
The secretary of Jamait Ahle Hadis Maulana Asghar Ali Imam Mehdi said that expectation of changes in US policy with change of guard at White House would be a foolish dream. He, however, said that US policy change towards world peace would be a gift for whole world.
SQR Ilyas of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board says, ' Though Obama had given a slogan of change, it is hard to believe any long term change in US strategy.' 'US will continue to support Israel and its war against Muslim in the name of war against terrorism will continue,†he contended.
Abdul Hamid Noomani of the Jamiat ul Ulema Hind is of the view that there would be no change in US foreign policy despite a coming to power of a democrat. “Obama could be harder for Muslims to prove his nationalistic spirit at home. He can not change US view on Israel as Jews are back-bone of US economy.
Farooq Mujtaba of Jamat Islami was hopeful that Obama would be able to reduce injustice committed by his predecessor. He, however, does not see any major change in US foreign policy vis a vis Islamic world.#
