The Opposition has charged the Yogi government of being very slow in the field of development.

Despite two high profile investors meets addressed by PM Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the desired investment has not come to UP over the past 30 months.

The Opposition is also very critical of law and order situation, which was reflected through the data revealed by the government in reply to questions in the UP Assembly.

Expressing concern over rise in crimes again, the women in the opposition charged the Yogi government of failure to provide adequate security to women in the state.

Samajwadi Party and the Congress alleged that the Yogi government’s action against the rape accused BJP leader MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar was taken only when the Supreme Court issued direction.

Similar tactic could be seen in the case of former Union Minister Swami Chinmayanand, who too has been accused of rape and was arrested after a massive media uproar. The Opposition charged the Yogi government of diluting the case against Swami Chinmayannd, who was not charged for rape despite specific charges made by the victim in her statement.

Pointing out rise in the cases of human rights violations under the Yogi government, the Opposition said that number of complaints and notices has risen sharply during the last 30 months.

The Opposition alleged that no new developmental projects were launched during this period.

Former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav alleged that ongoing projects launched during his regime were being claimed as their own by the Yogi government.

Talking about Lucknow Metro, Akhilesh Yadav said that there was no additional network built during the last 30 months.

Akhilesh Yadav also argued if there was no corruption the why ministers were removed and other shifted during the recent reshuffle of within the ministry.

Against the claims made by Yogi government on improving conditions of farmers, the Opposition alleged that cane growers were still waiting for their arrears. The Opposition also claimed that there had been several cases of suicide by farmers in the state.

Condemning the recent hike in power tariff by 12 per cent, the Opposition announced that they would launch state-wide agitation at tehsil level.

At the same time, the Opposition said that no additional unit of power was generated during BJP regime under CM Yogi. Former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav also pointed out that no new power plant was set up.

Now the Opposition is gearing up to take on BJP in the by-elections for 13 Assembly seats. The seats were vacated as MLAs got elected to Lok Sabha.

Significantly, the BSP, which terminated its alliance with Samajwadi Party, is also contesting the by-elections for the first time.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi is also taking personal interest in the selection of candidates for the UP by-elections.

Former chief Minister and national president of Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav, has also announced that party would contest all the seats on its own and would perform well.

Now the results of these by-elections will set the mood for 2022 assembly polls.
