What could be more shocking than a letter from Agra Mayor, Naveen Jain, to CM Yogi Adityanath to save his city from becoming Wuhan of India?
Agra Mayor levelled charges against total apathy of local administration in dealing with corona pandemic in city where in large number corona patients were being identified everyday. The figure is also very alarming.
Agra Mayor Jain also highlighted the plight of quarantine centres in hotspots where facilities were not being provided by the administration.
One video went viral in social media where food and others essential items were just being thrown outside the centres and those kept inside were finding it difficult to procure them.
There have been complaints from various districts where people have reportedly run away from quarantine centres at they were made to stay in un-hygienic conditions.
In Debai tehsil of Bulandshahr, district people ran away from the quarantine centre as they were dissatisfied with the arrangements.
The authorities later caught them and brought them back to quarantine centre. Later, action was taken against the gram pradhan and other local officials.
The general complaint against the quarantine centre is that the majority of them were kept in two or three rooms with no proper food or social distancing procedures being followed and no proper hygiene and unsanitary toilets.
Surprisingly, in some places there were reports that the inmates of quarantine centres arranged lavish party for them in connivance with the local officials.
It would be worth mentioning here that a large number of quarantine centres have been set up in panchayat bhawan and primary schools.
Similar complaints were received from Sultanpur, Sitapur, Rae Bareli, Azamgarh, Kushinagar, Noida, etc.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of the letter from Agra Mayor after it went viral in social media and TV news and directed the officers to look into the complaints and take action. (IPA Service)
