At the same time Indore bench of the High Court has sent notices to election Commission, state election office, chief secretary, Indore collector and some other senior officials following a petition that the collector allegedly arranged for 600 buses on state expense for an election rally addressed by CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Sanver. The rally was also attended by BJP Rajya Sabha MP Jyotiraditya Scindia, minister and Sanver BJP candidate Tulsi Silawat and other leaders of the ruling party.

Another development relates to the sudden move by the BJP to side line Jyotiraditya Scindia. Absence of Jyotiraditya Scindia’s picture on digital chariot launched by the BJP is being interpreted by the media and also by the Congress as the first step by the BJP to sideline Scindia. BJP on Tuesday flagged off ‘digital chariots’ for all poll-bound assembly constituencies to publicise welfare schemes launched by the state and central governments and to ‘expose the flaws of 15 month Congress rule’.

CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and state BJP chief VD Sharma flagged off the chariots at the party’s head office on Tuesday. Congress however was quick to point out that BJP Rajya Sabha MP Scindia, whose rebellion toppled the Kamal Nath government and brought BJP back to power, was missing from the posters that adorn the chariots.

“During the Covid-19 crisis, the BJP election management committee decided to launch the party’s digital campaign through Prachar Rath (publicity chariots) which will inform people about the BJP government’s development plans by following Corona guidelines” said Chouhan.

Sharma said the by elections are crucial to “save the state from destruction”. This is an election between the son of poor farmer and a Congress industrialist. The digital chariots will highlight achievements of the BJP government and put forth the injustice done to the farmers and poor during the 15-month rule of previous Congress government and to expose former CM Kamal Nath and Congress leader Digvijaya Singh” he said.

The raths carry pictures of Prime Miniser Narendra Modi and BJP national president JP Nadda on one side and CM Chouhan and Sharma on the other. Every chariot is equipped to telecast live speeches of party leaders from any source and can provide live feed through social media.

Congress took a dig at BJP over Scindia’s missing pictures on the rath. “BJP has sidelined Scindia from the digital chariot and highlighted only Chouhan and VD Sharma. Scindia has always been a secondary worker for BJP. He left the Congress party he used to call mother and joined another party” said former Congress minister Sajjan Singh Verma.

There is another important development. So far the BJP was terming 28 by elections as between BJP policies of development but suddenly they have started portraying the election as contest between Shivraj and Kamal Nath ignoring the role of Scindia.

Now it is being said that only Shivraj is the captain. But on the contrary Scindia tells his followers and voters that this election is the election of Maharaja Scindia. You have to vote for Maharaja, he says and also requests the workers to propagate and spread this message in all the villages which will go to vote November 3, 2020. (IPA Service)
