Samajwadi Party national President Akhilesh Yadav said that his party was hurt by shabby treatment in seat sharing in M -P assembly polls and maintained his party would also reply in same manner in Uttar Pradesh during Lok Sabha polls.

Akhilesh Yadav accused Congress leaders in Madhya Pradesh playing in the hands of BJP and urged central leaders to stop MP leaders to make damaging comments against Samajwadi Party. The trouble started when Congress fielded candidates in four out of seven assembly constituencies where Samajwadi Party had already announced candidates. In order to send strong signals to INDIA partner, Samajwadi Party declared list of nine more candidates.

The four seats in question are Chitrangi, Mehagaon, Bhander and Rajnagar. Samajwadi Party leadership in Bhopal and Lucknow is unhappy with Congress for fielding candidate from Bijawar in Chattarpur that party had won 2018. SP wanted 10 seats and Congress was offering less number of seats. Congress all of a sudden announced so many seats without consulting SP's demand.

UPCC president Ajai Rai who held high level meeting with party leaders maintained that Congress was on firm footing in all the states facing assembly polls and Samajwadi Party being alliance partner should help the grand old party candidates.

Hurt by the attitude of Congress leadership for the failure in seat sharing, Samajwadi Party has decided to put up 35 to 40 candidates which would ultimately damage the chances of Congress candidates.

Whatever may be the result of Madhya Pradesh assembly polls but failure of seat sharing will have its impact in relations between Samajwadi Party and Congress in Lok Sabha polls in UP. (IPA Service)
