Presently, 838 Core Probable (Men-492 & Women-353) in 17 + 1(Para-Sports) CWG disciplines are undergoing training at various identified training venues both SAI and Non-SAI Centres“Scheme of Preparations of India Teams for CWG, 2010” . 157 Indian Coaches, 23 Foreign Coaches/Experts and 78 Support Staff in various disciplines are deployed for training of these Core Probable. A total number of 176 camps have been conducted till date and 150+ foreign visits/exposures have also been organize since August, 2008.

Scientifically worked out diet and food supplements in consultation with Nutritional experts, sports medicine doctors and National Coaches are provided to Core Probables (@ Rs.450/- and Rs.550/- per head per day for non-power and power sports respectively) through Sports Federations/ Camp Managers. Branded and internationally used sports training gear have also been provided to all sports persons preparing for CWG 2010.

It may be recalled that the Government had in June, 2008, approved for the first time ever in India a Scheme with an outlay of Rs. 678 crore specificially designed to prepare Indian sportspersons for maximizing the medals tally in a major international multidisciplinary event, i.e., the CWG, 2010. Under the 'Scheme for Preparation of Indian Teams for Commonwealth Games, 2010' comprehensive and intensive training and exposure both in India and abroad is being provided to elite sportspersons(medal probables) with full scientific and medical back up facilities. Top level Foreign and Indian coaches and support personnel are working round the clock with the core probables.

Initially, 1140 sportspersons from 17 disciplines were selected as core probables, and imparted intensive training. After evaluating outcomes of the training inputs, core probables were pruned down for each discipline to 838 to ensure that the best medal probables are given further training.
