BSP supremo and Chief Minister Mayawati whose party failed to get Muslim support in the Lok Sabha elections, is working overtime now to take advantage of the Liberhan report.
Reacting to the report, Mayawati said it should be tabled in Parliament along with the Action taken Report, adding that the guilty should be punished.
She said the government had received reports that certain political parties were trying to whip up communal tension in the state. Mayawati has warned the BJP, the Samajwadi Party and the Congress against vitiating the atmosphere in the state.
The Chief Minister, who reviewed the law and order situation in the wake of the release of the Liberhan Commission Report, said DMs and SSPs had been instructed to maintain strict vigil in their areas and take action against anti-social elements.
The bonhomie between Kalyan Singh and Mulayam Singh Yadav will also be put to test. Incidentally, Kalyan Singh was the Chief Minister of the BJP government in the state when Babri mosque was demolished on December 6, 1992.
It also remains to be seen whether Mulayam will dump Kalyan Singh to regain Muslim support.
Kalyan Singh who was in Lucknow refused to meet the media. Over the Liberhan Report. All that he said was to convey a message through his staff that he would speak in the Lok Sabha after studying the report.
In his reaction, Mulayam said the Report may generate communal tension in the state. .
Left parties in Uttar Pradesh warned the Congress against trying to play communal politics on the Commission report.
Meanwhile, reports say that the people of Ayodhya are determined to ensure that there is no communal tension this time. (IPA)

LUCKNOW: The Liberhan Commission Report is likely to influence the political atmosphere in Uttar Pradesh which is set to see by-elections to one Lok Sabha and 12 assembly seats sometime next month.
