Former Chief Minister, Dr Deonkupar Roy continues to remain the Chairman with five C0-Chairmen including his predecessor Mr S C Marak. There are two M.L.As and two former M.L.As sharing the Co-Chairman posts.
The reconstituted Board would prepare a perspective Plan for the state for next 15 to 20 year for optimum and balanced utilisation of the states resources. It would advise the Government regarding formulation of annual plans and five-year plan.
It would also review the progress of implementation of schemes and to ascertain the factors, which have been tending to retard economic development of the state. It would determine the conditions to be created for successful execution of the plans.
The other Co-Chairmen are- Mr Augustine D Marak, Mr Metbah Lyndodh (both M.L.As), Mr S D Khongwir and Mr A H Scot Lyngdo (bothe former M.L.As). Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary, Principal Secretaries of Planning and Finance Department of the Meghalaya Government are also members of the newly constituted Board along with Commissioner and Secretary of State Planning Board as Member Secretary, an official notification said.
The Board can also take up studies and make suitable recommendations to the state Government. It could also evaluate the man and material potential of the state.
The ten non official members are- Mr Paul Kutala, Mr Pharang Roy former Vice President of IFAD, Dr G Kharkongor, Vice-Chancellor of MLU, Mr P Cilia, of Don Bosco Youth Centre, Dr R R Cunville, Dr Manas Das Gupta, Mr B R Sokhia, Mr O S Mawroh and Mr C K Nayak, Delhi based Special Correspondent of The Shillong Times. #

New Delhi: The Meghalaya Planning Board has been reconstituted with five official and ten non-official members who will hold honorary posts. A Delhi based journalist who works with The Shillong Times, is also in the committee.
