The event organized by the department of defence production at Air Force Station Yelahanka in Bengaluru in Karnataka will have participants by Indian and foreign public and private sector companies and exhibit latest profiles of aerospace, defence and civil aviation technology, products, innovations, services and aircraft.
“Performances by the defence sector will amount to 46%, while that by civil aviation sector would be 54%,” said the secretary, defence production, Raj Kumar Singh.
Participations at various levels are expected from about 45 countries. About eight countries, namely Belgium, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Russia, UK and US will set up their country pavilions.
Though Afghanistan is participating, no participation is likely from Pakistan, China, Iraq, Iran. Some of the participating countries are Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, Brazil, Brunei, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Nigeria, Philippines, Poland, South Korea, Russia, Romania, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, UK, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, US and Vietnam.
About 63 manufacturing companies will participate from US, while that from France will be 43, Germany 42, UK 41, Russia 25, Italy 22, Belgium 17 and Israel 13.
The event will be an excellent opportunity for B2B meetings, product launches, technical presentations and industry roundtables.
A total of 95 aircraft will be involved in Aero India-2011 event, which includes 47 aircraft from foreign countries. There will be about 70 static display and flight display or air shows will be twice a day.
Interesting product in the static display will be the flying Maruti 800 FLG Car claimed to be developed by an entrepreneur of the Bengaluru city.
The major attraction in all the five days will be the performances by flying bulls aerobatic teams, namely Surya Kiran and Sarang Aerobatic teams of Indian Air Force (IAF). The IAF’s flying bulls aerobatic teams have performed at various aviation and motor-sport events, contests and other events worldwide, never failing to enthrall thousands of onlookers. With its precise and impressive performances, the teams have managed to secure a fixed place in the global aerobatics scene and created an outstanding international reputation. The Australian Red Bull team will be participating for the first time.
Aero India began as a debut show in 1993 and is now a biennial event, the last show was in 2009. According to the organizers this year’s event would be spectacular given India’s aspiration to be the hub for global aerospace industry. This year the number of exhibitors is likely to increase to 675. The chalets is also likely to increase to 63.
