She was addressing the media persons on assuming the charge of the Chairperson of the Commission. She said that she would like to continue the Commission’s policy on emphasis on rural women. NCW would continue to focus on the scheme “Chalo Gaon Ki Ore” to establish direct contact at grass root level. She has already ordered an inquiry into the reports of the self imposed confinement of NOIDA Behel Sisters and their condition.
Smt. Abrar urged for the support of the Media, NGOs, and Members of Civil Society National Commission for Women for furthering the cause of women folk in India, and attaining an equality of status with men.
