Already, SP has been holding dharnas and meetings all over the state to highlight the failures of the Mayawati administration and intensive campaign is on to expose the cases of corruption under the BSP regime along with deterioration in law and order, lack of development and denial of fair price to the farmers for acquisition of their land. National president of SP Mulayam Singh Yadav has told his party cadres that their aim should be to get majority in the assembly elections on their own and form the Government to give a stable and corruption free and development-oriented administration in the state.

SP leadership is making all out efforts to make inroads in the strongholds of the BSP and the candidates who have been already selected by the leadership for contesting elections, have been asked to go to their constituencies and vigorously campaign against the Mayawati government. The candidates are taking up the issue of the BSP government’s anti farmers actions and the police atrocities in various districts of the state including Greater Noida area.

Meanwhile, enthused by the success of Bhatta Persaul visit of Rahul Gandhi, UP Congress is gearing up to take on Mayawati government in a big way to achieve Mission 2012.

AICC President Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi formally launched party’s campaign to dislodge Mayawati government and capture power on its own in 2012 assembly polls at two-day convention of party at Varanasi on June 18-19, and as a follow-up Congress workers are campaigning in districts.

Rahul Gandhi told Congress workers that there was no dearth of issues in the state for Congress. He listed few issues like Bundelkhand, Noida, Shravaasti and others but for him the fight for poor persons was the biggest issue.

Significantly enough Rahul Gandhi asked Congress workers to stop wasting time and energy in blaming political rivals and concentrate on what they were doing for common man.

Rahul Gandhi said that lack of development in last 22 years when non-Congress governments ruled the state and large scale of corruption during Mayawati government would also be major issues in forthcoming days to corner political rivals.

According to him, there was need to educate people about large scale bungling by Mayawati government in central funded schemes like MANREGA, Education for ALL, Mid-day Meal, NRHM. He further said that UPA government had given special package for Bundelkhand but it was not being properly implemented by Mayawati government.

Sources say that Rahul Gandhi completely ruled out any pre-poll alliance with any party in 2012 assembly polls. He said during Lok Sabha polls, Samajwadi Party was not willing to give more then 10 seats and political analysts too were not giving more then four-five seats to the Congress but party fought on its own strength and won more then 20 seats.

Congress President is reported to have endorsed action plan of Rahul Gandhi for UP for launching scathing attack on Mayawati government on the issue of corruption.

She has told the Congress workers that farmers were subjected to atrocities and loot in Gautam Budhnagar where police fired on innocent farmers who were agitating for compensation. She alleged that farmers were being looted through government machinery.

Emphasising that only Congress could provide better governance AICC president has reminded people that all good work in the field of agriculture, industry, irrigation, power, education and health was done 22 years back during the regime of Congress. (IPA Service)
