It would be worth mentioning here that districts of Sitapur and Lakhimpur Kheri have been stronghold of socialist leaders past several decades. Addressing meetings in Hargaon, Sidhauli, Maholi and district headquarters of Sitapur, Akhilesh appealed the people to dislodge Mayawati government and install government of Samajwadi Party.

He was also critical of Mayawati’s announcement of projects worth Rs 6,000 crores on the death anniversary of BSP founder Late Kanshiram on October 9.
Samajwadi Party state president said how could chief minister Mayawati make announcement of several thousands of crores of rupees without making any provision in state budget. He said that dalits would not get any benefit by the huge expenditure of Rs 40,000 crores in building statues and parks. He also alleged that people were feeling insecure due to deterioration in law and order.
Samajwadi Party leader said all sections of society including youth, farmers, traders, and teachers had been victimized by the government machinery. Akhilesh said that unemployment allowance to youth started by government of his party had been stopped by Mayawati government which failed to create jobs for them. So much so Kanya Vidyadhan given to girls was also stopped, he added.
In order to win over the support from the people, Akhilesh Yadav assured that all the welfare schemes stopped by Mayawati government would be re-started. He also announced that his party’s government would launch several schemes for Muslims, backwards and farmers. He also said his government would ensure people education at cheaper rate.
Samajwadi Party state president said that farmers were leading miserable life in villages due to non-availability of fertilizer, water, seed which resulted in loss of crop. “Instead of giving relief to farmers, chief minister Mayawati has sold sugar mills to private sector to earn commission”, he added.
