Three BJP yatras are moving in UP including one led by LK Advani who is on nation-wide tour. The other two yatras are led by senior BJP leader Kalraj Mishra and other by former BJP national president and chief minister Rajnath Singh.

The political analysts opine that these yatras might help in getting public support for the time being but it is difficult to sustain the euphoria generated by these yatras till the polls..

Kalraj Mishra started his yatra on October 13 from Bharat Mata Mandir in Varanasi and Rajnath Singh started from Mathura and these yatras will culminate in Ayodhya on November 17.Both the yatras will cover the distances of 5000 kms and pass through 62 districts and 377 assembly constituencies. BJP national president Nitin Gadkari will be present in Ayodhya on November 17 to receive both the yatras.BJP leaders will be holding meetings in every assembly constituency after the yatras are over

Initially BJP leaders were unnerved by the poor show at Varanasi rally but later on it picked up at Chanduali and Sonbhadra where crowd was quite impressive. Even LK Adani did not get good crowd during his meetings. The euphoria and magic of his earlier yatras was missing this time.

Significantly enough BJP Jan Swabhiman Yatras are getting good response in rural areas as compared to urban areas.

Kalraj Mishra and Rajnath Singh are addressing series of public meetings every day. Besies national and state level issues, Kalraj Mishra and Rajnath Singh are also taking up local issues.

During his Jan Swabhiman Yatra at Bundelkhand, BJP leader Kalraj Mishra took up the backwardness of the region and blamed Congress as well as BSP for ignoring the problems of the area.

Mishra said that out of total package for Bundelkhand announced by UPA government, UP got only Rs 1695 crores out of Rs 3096 crores. The rest of the funds were given in various central government schemes. Kalraj Mishra disclosed that the money sanctioned in 2009 was only released in 2010.

BJP leader said that criminal nexus of politicians including local ministers and MLAs were ruling the roost which affected the development. He alleged that serious charges of rape and murder and loot were leveled against local ministers and legislators during the regime of chief minister Mayawati.

Kalraj Mishra also attacked chief minister Mayawati for spending several thousands crores of rupees on memorials and statues including her own and parks while farmers of Bundelkhand were committing suicide due to lack of food and jobs.

Similarly former BJP national President Rajnath Singh during his Jan Swabhiman Yatra in Bijnor launched attack on AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi and said that Gandhi scion will not be able to achieve any success in UP.He said that Rahuol Gandhi will be a big failure in UP like Bihar where the Congress got onoly four seats in the las5t assembly elections.

Former BJP national president said Rahul Gandhi who is scheduled to lead the campaign and address series of public meetings will not be able to help the Congress in winning good number of seats.

Rajnath Singh during his public meetings tried to convince the public that his party would not join hands with BSP before, during or after 2012 assembly polls. Singh admitted that his party committed great political blunder of having supported Mayawati thrice.

Besides public meetings during the yatra, the BJP also distributed pamphlets and audio CDs to mobilize people. The pamphlet distributed during the course of the yatra not only spoke about BJP's commitment for development but also highlighted the functioning of the BSP government in UP, describing it as anti-farmer and anti-people. It also accused the Mayawati government of indulging in 100 scams like land acquisition, selling of sugar mills, sugarcane scam, mid-day meal scam, MGNREGA scam etc.

The party also compiled the crime records during BSP regime in the state, mentioning dowry murder (2052), rape (1290), molestation (2660), abduction (4903), eve teasing (2077), women exploitation (7468), loot (2007) and murder (4414). Describing the Mayawati regime as 'jungle raj', BJP also criticized the rule of the SP government in UP earlier.

Besides, it also highlighted the scams committed during the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre, mentioning important scams like 2G Spectrum, Commonwealth Games, Adarsh Society, food grain, rice export, public distribution system.

At the same time, the party also highlighted the achievements of the Rajnath Singh government in UP and the NDA government-led by Atal Behari Vajpayee at the Centre. Besides, the performance of BJP ruled states like Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh was also highlighted. (IPA)
