The winners, including Karunesh Ganguly of San Francisco VA Medical Center and Hardeep Singh of Houston VA Medical Center, will receive the Presidential Early Career Awards for Scientists and Engineers at a ceremony in Washington next year.
This news comes as a short-in-the-arm for the three-day gala conclave of Overseas Indian being organised in Delhi from January 7 next year.
In a Statement, President Obama said that the impressive achievements of these early-stage scientists and engineers are promising indicators of even greater successes ahead.
The awards were established by President Bill Clinton in 1996.
Awardees are selected for their pursuit of innovative research at the frontiers of science and technology and their commitment to community service as demonstrated through scientific leadership, public education, or community outreach.

New Delhi: Here is some good news that India can boost about its diaspora. The Obama Administration has named two Indian-Americans among 102 scientists as recipients of a presidential award. It is the highest honour bestowed by the US on young science and engineering professionals.
