The issue has gained prominence in the context of the new BJP President Amit Shah declaring that BJP will repeat its Lok Sabha performance in the next assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and all efforts will have to be made to win the by elections by year end. At ground level there is realization in political workers of different anti-BJP political parties that unless they formed the alliance on Bihar pattern, it would be difficult to stop BJP from winning the seats.
CPI national secretary Atul Anjan also feels that there is an urgent need for an alliance of likeminded parties with common minimum programme. Anjan is of the opinion that taking into account the latest trends and the BJP’s aggressive thrust in Uttar Pradesh, all out move has to be made by all non-BJP secular parties to form a front in Uttar Pradesh to defeat the BJP candidates in the coming by polls as also in the state assembly elections
He further said that all parties should understand that BJP had swept UP by taking 71 out of total 80 Lok Sabha seats and lead in more then 280 assembly segments.
Keeping this aspect in mind Atul Anjan recently met Samajwadi Party national President Mulayam Singh Yadav in Lucknow and urged him to revive “Krantikari Morcha” which was instrumental in fighting communal forces and bringing Mulayam Singh Yadav to power in 1989.
It would be worth mentioning here that Mulayam Singh Yadav was instrumental in making “krantikari morcha” in which Janata Dal, Samajwadi Party, Janata Party, CPI and CPM were main partners. The leaders of the “krantikari morcha” extensively toured the state and succeeded in making favorable atmosphere which brought Mulayam Singh Yadav as chief minister.
Atul Anjan said that it was high time that Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav should take the initiative to talk to senior leaders of Congress, RLD, CPI ,CPM and other secular parties to stop the march of BJP in UP.
Veteran Congress leaders Kranti Kumar and Ram Krishna Dwivedi are also of the opinion that it is high time that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi should talk to Mulayam Singh Yadav to have alliance of secular parties to stop BJP from sweeping once again in by-elections. They were of the opinion that BJP could be stopped by the joint efforts of likeminded political parties.
Although there is realization among workers of Samajwadi Party that BJP could only be stopped by the alliance with other parties Mulayam blames Congress for debacle in UP which saw BJP getting 70 seats and SP getting only five.
Political analysts say that there is need for a centrist alliance led by Mulayam Singh Yadav in UP to stop onward march of communal and fascist forces. They further say that Mulayam, Sonia and Rahul should realize the threat from BJP and RSS forces and it could endanger democracy in the country.
According to another political analyst, a strong alliance under the leadership of Mulayam Singh Yadav could also attract core voters of BSP which is not likely to fight the by polls in Uttar Pradesh. (IPA)
