Alessandro Farnese
Alessandro Farnese (1546-1592) was a famous Italian general, grandson of Pietro Luigi Farnese, and 3rd duke of Parma. He distinguished himself at the battle of Lepanto. He was governor of the Spanish Netherlands, and fought successfully against France, defeating Henry IV before the walls of Paris, and again two years later at Rouen, where he was mortally wounded.Nearby pages
