Alethic

Alethic is something of or relating to truth. The term is derived from the Greek word aletheia which literally means truth. This word is used as an adjective, such as in "alethic proposition" meaning a true proposition. Thus, the term alethic denotes or refers to a modality of truth.

In philosophy, "alethic modality" is a concept that denotes a logical necessity, contingency, possibility, or impossibility. A well known example of alethic modality is the proposition that "all bachelors are unmarried". It is logically true since it is the unmarried men who are called bachelors.
