Abbevillian

Abbevillian (also spelled Abbevillean) is an archaeological term that refers to the first Paleolithic culture in Europe.

Anything of this culture, the period, or relating to it is also known as Abbevillian.

This name is derived from Abbeville town of northern France from where tools from this culture were found in 1930s.

However, this term is now usually used for the Lower Acheulean.
