Abo

Abo is the Swedish name for the Finnish city Turku. It was the old capital of Finland and the seat of the government, on the Gulf of Bothnia. In 1809, Finland came under Russian rule with Turku serving as the capital of the Grand Duchy of Finland. In 1812, the Russians relocated the capital to Helsinki.
