Accretionary prism

Accretionary prism is a geological term, also known as accretionary wedge, that refers to an accretion of sedimentary materials piled up at the edge of the overriding non-subducting tectonic plate.

These materials are scraped off a region of oceanic crust during subduction and deposited onto non-subducting plates.
