Aegina
Aegina is an island located 20 miles southwest of Athens, in a gulf of the same name. Both the island and the gulf derive their names after the Greek mythological character Aegina, who was a daughter of the river god Asopus and the nymph Metope. She bore at least two children: Menoetius by Actor, and Aeacus by the god Zeus. Aeacus was born on the island and became its king. The gulf is now known by the Saronic Gulf, and the group of islands the Saronic Islands of which Aegina is a part.Nearby pages
