Ahmed Ben Bella

Ahmed Ben Bella (1918 — 2012), full name Muhammad Ahmed Ben Bella, was an Algerian revolutionary politician and statesman. He was prime minister of the country during 1962 — 63, and president during 1963 — 65. He was the first president of independent Algeria. He was also a founder of the National Liberation Front (FLN), which fought long war for independence from the French, declared president after independence, and overthrown in 1965 in a military coup.
