Al Hariri

Al Hariri (1054-1122) was an Arab poet and a philologist, born at Bassorah. He was native of Basra (modern Iraq) and became chief of intelligence. He was celebrated far and wide as the author of "Makamat," a collection of tales in verse, the central figure in which is one Abu Seid, a clever and amusing production, and evincing a unique mastery of Arabic. Makamat (Sessions) was considered a classic in his own lifetime.
