Alkali metal

Alkali metal is a term in chemistry for any of the metals of a group of elements, Group IA (1), of the periodic table. This group of elements includes lithium, sodium, potassium, rubidium, cesium and francium.

These are highly reactive elements which form strong alkaline hydroxides. These are also monovalent and electropositive.
