Amasis
Amasis, also Amasis II, flourished in the 6th century BC, was king of Egypt, originally a simple soldier, took part in an insurrection, dethroned the reigning monarch and assumed the crown, proved an able ruler, and cultivated alliances with Greece. He reigned from 570 to 526 BC.Nearby pages
