American Gothic
American Gothic is a famous painting by Grant Wood (1891-1942). This 1930 painting depicts a dour-faced farmer and his daughter in front of their house. The house has a Gothic-style window which forms the background of the painting. The painting is noted for representing the traditional American rural values.This painting has since been widely copied and imitated by other artists. The term has also become proverbial for conservative social and moral views.
