Amphitheater

Amphitheater is typically a round building without any roof, having a central space for performance and tiers of seats all around for spectators. Such buildings were a remarkable feature of Greek and Roman architecture which were also being used for sporting events.

In modern days, a semi-circular seating gallery with a sloping is also called an amphitheater.

The term is also applied to any large circular hollow in rocks or hills.
