Angkor

Angkor is in northwestern Cambodia, well known as the capital of the ancient kingdom of Khmer. The famous temple complex Angkor Wat of the mid 12th century is among several temples situated here. The site was rediscovered in 1860, the ruins of which are located amid forests and farmland north of the Great Lake 'Tonlé Sap' and south of the Kulen Hills, near modern-day Siem Reap city in Siem Reap Province. There are over one thousand temples in the Angkor area, many of them are in ruins.
