Anjan, also spelled Aanjan, is a small village in Gumla district of Jharkhand in India. It is situated at about 18 km away from Gumla via Toto. It is famous as the birth place of Mahaveer Hanuman. This village derived its name from the goddess Anjani, the mother of Mahaveer Hanuman. The goddes Anjani used to live in Anjani Gufa (Cave) which is situated at about 4 km from the village upon a hill. Many objects of archeological importance had been found in this place. The objects obtained from this place can be seen at Patna Museum in Bihar. There is an idol of mother Anjani with Hanuman in her lap near Anjani Gufa (cave).Nearby pages
