Aramaea
Aramaea, now in central Syria, were the ancient territories lying to northeast of Palestine, the inhabitants of which spoke a Semitic dialect called Aramaic, and improperly Chaldee. It is called "Aram-Naharaim" in the Hebrew Bible, literally the "Aram of two rivers", to distinguish it from other Arams. However, the region was never a single kingdom of Aramaea, and has several city states. They were conquered by Assyria in 1300 BC.Nearby pages
