Arnica

Arnica is a plant native to cooler regions of the northern hemisphere. It belongs to the daisy family and bears daisylike yellow flowers. It is sometimes cultivated as an ornamental, but also has medicinal qualities. A preparation from this plant is also known by this name which is used as medicine, especially for the treatment of bruises. It belongs to the genus Arnica and family Compositae. Several species of arnica are found of which the mountain tobacco (Arnica montana) of central Europe is particularly noteworthy.
