Aspect ratio

Aspect ratio is a technical term in mathematics for the ratio of the width to the height of a rectangle, expressed as x:y. It is also used to calculate the aspect ratio of rectangular images or screens.

The ratio of the span to the mean chord of an airfoil is also called aspect in aeronautics.
