Assumption

Assumption is an acceptance of something to be true, or may come to be true, without proof. Assumption of power or authority is to take the responsibility and the active role of the office. There was a time when assumption denoted arrogance or presumption, which has now become an archaic term.

In Christianity, Assumption is the reception of Virgin Mary into heaven in her human form. The doctrine of Assumption was formally declared by the Catholic Church in 1950. August 15 is celebrated as the day of the feast in honour of Assumption. The day itself is also called Assumption.
