Asterisk

Asterisk is the symbol '*', or anything resembling a star in shape. The symbol is often used for marks of reference, or to replace numbers in numbered points, or to draw attention to the texts following it. Double stars '**' are used as one of the reference points when there are many. Three asterisks '***' are placed before a long or general note, to mark it as a note without giving it a particular reference. Four stars '****' are used to separate the previous texts from the following, to make them distinct. More than four asterisks in a row are also sometimes used for the same purpose. The three asterisks (⁂) are used to draw attention to the following texts.
