Aster

Aster is a term in biology for a structure formed during division of the nucleus of an animal cell. It derives its name from its being a star-shaped.

In botany, it is name of a plant bearing bright rayed flowers, typically of purple or pink colours, many of which bloom in autumn. It belongs to the daisy family, botanical name Compositae, and the genus Aster. Numerous species of the plants are found of which the wild New England aster (Aster novae-angliae) is particularly noteworthy, which bears purple flowers. China aster also belongs to the same family which bears bright showy flowers for which it is cultivated.
