Augusta Baker

Augusta Baker (1911-1998), full name Augusta Braxton Baker, was a US librarian and storyteller. She was known for her contributions to children's literature, especially regarding the portrayal of Black Americans in works for children. She was a former slave, worked in variety of positions with American Library Association. She was also a writer and lecturer on children and books, and was known for work in literacy, civil rights, and African folklore.
