Auguste Charles Joseph

Auguste Charles Joseph (1785-1870), Comte de Flahault de la Billarderie, was a French soldier and diplomatist, born at Paris. He was aide-de-camp to Napoleon, and fought several wars. For his distinguished services in the Peninsular war and also at Leipzig, he was made a general and a count. He fought at Waterloo, and two years later married Margaret Elphinston, who by inheritance became Baroness Keith. He was ambassador at the Courts of Venice (1841-48) and at London (1860).
