Austin

Austin is the name of two cities in the United States. One is the capital city of Texas, on the Colorado River, named after Stephen Austin, who was chiefly instrumental in annexing Texas to the United States. The city was first settled by Anglo-Americans in 1835, and was named Waterloo. At that time it was in Mexico. In 1836, Texas got independence from Mexico. The name 'Waterloo' was changed to 'Austin' in 1839 in honour of Stephen Fuller Austin, the colonizer of Texas.

The another city of this name is in southeastern Minnesota in the United States. This small city has a flourishing meatpacking industry.
