Austrian Silesia

Austrian Silesia was that portion of the original Silesian country preserved to Austria after the unsuccessful struggle with Prussia. It formed a duchy and crownland of Austria, and extended southwest from the border of Prussian Silesia. It was officially the Duchy of Upper and Lower Silesia during 1742–1918, and was an autonomous region of the Kingdom of Bohemia and the Habsburg monarchy. Agriculture and mining were the chief industries. It is largely coterminous with the present-day region of Czech Silesia.
