Ayodhyakand

Ayodhyakand is the second part in the story of Sri Ram, the eldest son of King Dashrath of Ayodhya.

Ayodhyakand begins after the end of Balakand, and ends before the beginning of Aranyakand.

The story of Sri Ram in Ayodhya is portrayed is this part. In the Arsh Ramayan or simply the Ramayan composed by the ancient sage Valmiki, this is the second part of the story.

The story in this part of the scripture starts with Dasarath's desire to coronate Rama as the crown prince with the approval of all his people. With this end in mind, he invites various citizens, important people from all cities and villages in his kingdom.

This part ends with the Ram's exile in the jungle for 14 years.
